Madbird Designs launches website
What do you get when you combine silkscreen skills with an artists palette knife? MadBird Designs! Launched this fall by Madeliene Abling of Abling Gallery and Birdie Cornette of Birdie’s Silkscreen Studio, both in Provincetown, the concept puts art on apparel. The contemporary palette knife painter joined forces with the silk screener to launch three product lines. Abling was thinking about where else aside from the Cape and New York to show her work and Birdie’s customers often ask why her work isn’t available off Cape.
The Under the Influence line displays some of Abling’s favorite drink paintings (martinis, cosmopolitans, and margaritas), Under the Sun bears boat and beach designs from both their collections, and Under Foot uses Birdie’s animal designs. After the new apparel sold well in the Studio last summer, the pair officially launched a website this past fall. They are looking for retail outlets throughout the country.
