Chatham Cod and other Note Cods
As the holiday season quickly approaches, so does the stress of finding the perfect holiday cards for friends, family, and clients. Luckily, we have stumbled upon the perfect Cape-centric designs. Local graphic artist Andrew Newman’s collections of quirky cod-inspired greeting cards are sure to put a smile on everyone’s face.
Newman began Cape Card shortly after the 2007 Christmas season when he realized he was unhappy with the cards he sent to his clients. He began experimenting with images of a cod and a wreath. A couple of weeks later, Newman saw the need for a Valentine’s Day Cod Card and from there produced “notecods” for many other holidays and occasions.
More recently, Newman released his newest note card, The Chatham Cod, at Picnic Fashion in Chatham, where it is for sale exclusively. Chatham’s rich fishing history, in addition to photographs his wife took of a fishing pier in Chatham, gave way to this design. Although location-specific note cards are currently only available for Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket, and Chatham, Newman plans to release designs for Falmouth and Osterville in the near future, with the intent to create note cards for the rest of the towns on Cape Cod.
