The Who, What, Wear of Cape Cod
Eco Chic
Slow Food Cape Cod and Shift Boutique came together for good food, good fashion and good times on February 17 at the Island Merchant in downtown Hyannis. The fun event was packed with locals supporting locals from the moment the doors opened for dinner. Slow Food Cape Cod, a local nonprofit celebrating clean, fairly grown food, and Shift Boutique, an eco-friendly women's clothing store, held the event in order to educate diners about the importance of knowing where your consumer goods, such as food and clothing, come from and how their production can impact the natural environment.
The cozy sit-down dinner included locally grown greens from E&T Farms, oysters from Barnstable Sea Farms, and delicious pork from Ocean Song Farm in Dennis. Adrienne Pancoe Cormier of Cape Cod Five Savings Bank, Megan Thayer of TD Bank, Mary Debartolo of Slow Food Cape Cod, and Joe and Bev Dunn from the Island Merchant were among those who attended the event. Stylish clothing sold at Shift Boutique made from hemp, organic cotton, colorful silk, and material fabricated from pineapples were modeled by a few of the fashionable attendees.
